Overview

A 10-minute recap for the frog team
Juan Garcia · Senior Visual Designer
The big idea

Figma’s whole pitch this year: “No tool should limit where an idea can go.” Everything they shipped was code, motion, and generative oriented.

01 Design in motion

Figma
Motion

A real timeline lives in Figma Design now. Keyframes, easing, springs, presets.

  • Animate from scratch, layer onto designs, or let the agent rough out a first pass.
  • Motion joins your design system: animate a component once and it travels everywhere.
  • Dev Mode shows the full timeline. Copy CSS, JSON, or React, or hand off through MCP.

02 Build your own tools

Generative
plugins

Build your own Figma tools by describing what you need. No dev setup, no plugin API.

  • Sort layers by a rule, even out spacing across a selection, find and replace colors.
  • They feel native, use Figma’s own UI, and live right inside your file.
  • Share inside a file today. Team and community publishing are coming.

03 AI image workflows

Weave
tools

Weave’s AI image workflows now run inside Figma Design as simple, repeatable tools.

  • Replace a background, drop a logo on a product, change aspect ratio, no prompt wrangling.
  • Swap the inputs, get consistent results every single run.
  • Build full workflows in Weave and publish them as community templates.

04 Knows how you work

Figma
agent

It got smarter and more connected, and it launched to everyone.

  • Skills package your team’s conventions into reusable instructions it runs on demand.
  • It searches the web, pulls from MCP connectors like Notion, Slack and GitHub, and takes attachments.
  • Agent chats are shared with your team by default, so you build on each other’s directions.

Shader fills
& effects

Describe the look, or drop a reference, and the agent builds a shader you can tune on canvas.

  • Effects transform a layer, fills act as a new material. Stack them freely.
  • Every shader ships with real controls, parameterized by default.
  • WebGPU under the hood. Exports to code and to Figma Make through MCP.

06 Code on the canvas

Code on
the canvas

Explore multiple directions with real, interactive code, side by side with your team, right on the canvas.

  • Add a code layer from the toolbar, turn a frame into one, or let the agent generate it. Start from a template or import a GitHub repo.
  • Duplicate to try alts. Compare how options actually feel: move and resize elements and get an immediate code response.
  • Select extract designs to turn code back into editable Figma layers, then push changes to your repo so the whole team sees them.

Good prompts matter more than ever

“Build me a…”
Plugin  ·  Custom shader effect  ·  Custom shader fill
“that does…”
describe what the tool should accomplish
how the effect manipulates a surface
how the fill should look and behave
“with the following controls…”
list how you want to customize each instance.
e.g. file upload, color picker, intensity

So what for us

Takeaways

Motion is now a design system primitive
Animation variables in components mean motion consistency at scale, relevant for every design system frog builds.
The code and design handoff is collapsing
The design versus code line is blurring. Motion and code as materials means shorter handoffs and prototypes that are honest about how things really behave.
Agents as teammates, learn by doing and sharing
Shared agent threads change how we collaborate. More visible thinking, fewer siloed explorations. Custom skills and connectors mean our workflows can become reusable.
